While we’re not catching them during an awe-inspiring sightseeing tour, the clip does show the long-awaited reunion of Ralph Macchio’s Daniel with his love interest (and tea ceremony partner) from the 1986 film; a seemingly platonic lunch between old friends that manages to disclose crucial information about the reason behind the trip....

There are certain pop culture totems that the public is incredibly protective over and Cowboy Bebop is a prime example. Shinichiro Watanabe’s masterwork continues to be considered one of the very best anime series ever made. Netflix’s live-action riff on the classic anime caught many people by surprise, but ended up as a passionate product that doesn’t try to replace the original series, yet also finds rewarding ways in which to expand the series’ universe....

This four part docuseries from Joe Berlinger, who made the excellent documentary Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, delves into the case in a way that is sensationally un-sensationalist. Featuring new interviews with the police officers who worked on the case, the hotel manager of the Cecil, guests who were staying at the Cecil at the time, LA historians as well as web sleuths who were obsessed with the case, it’s a grounded and thorough look at what might have happened to Elisa, while attempting to address some of the anomalies that make this case so strange and compelling....

In case you’ve forgotten, Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2020 release was nothing short of a debacle. The game was a technical nightmare that also happened to be missing a number of notable features. All things considered, many people eagerly tried developer CD Projekt Red’s follow-up (production-wise, that is) to The Witcher 3 found it to be insulting in many ways and simply never looked back once they walked away from the title....

Creative differences have caused an irreparable rift between Winter—who was initially tapped as showrunner, writer and executive producer—and The Batman director Matt Reeves, who is onboard as an executive producer, according to THR. It would seem that the series Winter envisioned did not match what Reeves, his fellow producers and Warner had in mind. Thus, with the series designed to share some type of tonal and thematic synergy with the 2022-scheduled DCEU movie, the reported clash of visions with the movie team left Winter as the odd man out....

The closest thing Disney+ has this month to a big TV original is National Treasure: Edge of History on Dec. 9. A spinoff of the Nicolas Cage film series, this show will follow Jess Valenzuela (Lisette Olivera) as she searches for a centuries-old treasure. Over on the movie side of things, there are a handful of intriguing options, though nothing rising to the Marvel or Star Wars occasion. Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again is an animated film that will continue the story from the trilogy of films and it premieres on Dec....

Keeping with tradition, however, the biggest release this month is of the Marvel of Star Wars variety, with Star Wars taking its turn after Marvel did with She-Hulk in August. Prequel series Andor is set to premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 21 with three episodes. Starring Diego Luga as the titular rogue, Andor will take place in the time before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Disney has big plans for this property, with an uncommonly large 12-episode order set to run throughout the fall....

Stephen Strange has one of Marvel’s most clear-cut origin stories, which makes the long delay in bringing his story to the screen somewhat baffling. Then again, the idea of a superhero who does most of his crimefighting as a disembodied being on an astral plane that resembles what Kubrick’s “star gate” might have looked like if the director had actually dropped acid was no doubt daunting to even the most open-minded filmmakers....

Speaking at an online BBC press Q&A for the festive episode held earlier this month, Jodie Whittaker confirmed the news: “As the Doctor I will say that the fam as a four is no more. This will be the last time we see Bradley and Tosin. Absolutely devastated. Knowing it was my last scene with those actors, both of them had to carry me to my trailer. Pictures co-chairs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy decided to pull the plug on Wonder Woman 3 with writer-director Patty Jenkins, who had only recently turned in a story treatment she co-wrote with Geoff Johns, and which was to star Gal Gadot. However, our own sources close to the project have suggested the events are not so cut and dry as initially reported....

That’s undoubtedly why the tuxedo bois have become a fixture of nature documentaries, starring in full-length features like March of the Penguins and Disney’s Penguins. Now Netflix’s new docuseries Penguin Town, narrated by Patton Oswalt, is betting on the unshakable fact that pop culture can never have too many penguins. Penguin Town bets correctly. “They’re incredibly clumsy because they’ve got short little legs,” Penguin Town field producer Cayley Christos says....

Dying Light 2’s choice system isn’t quite as expansive as some fans hoped it would be based on the hype for the game, but there are certainly a few choices in the massive RPG that will likely leave you frozen in fear as you debate what the “best” decision is. As always, what you decide to do in these situations will ultimately come down to your personal preferences and whatever you feel is “right....

Recently, Bandai Namco released a press release that showered the FromSoftware team with praise. The statement commended Hidetaka Miyazaki for marrying his studio’s experience producing Soulsborne titles with George R.R. Martin’s worldbuilding, and the press release concluded by stating, “Please look forward to more of ‘ELDEN RING’ as an IP (characters and other intellectual property) in hopes of expanding beyond the realm of games.” While the wording was somewhat vague, the message was pretty clear: Bandai Namco has big plans for Elden Ring....

Today, we’re focusing on some of those secret areas. In a game as large and deep as Elden Ring, you could probably make an argument that any number of areas are actually secret areas. After all, everyone tends to experience Elden Ring in slightly different ways, which means that everyone will inevitably miss a few things that other players didn’t realize they happened to stumble upon. That being the case, I’ve decided to focus on what I would consider some of Elden Ring‘s best overall secret areas....

Set prior to the events of World War II, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore finds Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Grindelwald (now Mads Mikkelsen) attempting to mediate Grindelwald’s plans to overthrow the Muggle world. Due to their unbreakable vow to not harm each other—and essentially their love for one another—Dumbledore and Grindelwald must find others to do the job for them. Grindelwald, who has a bunch of plans lined up, is hopeful that Credence will use his anger from being abandoned by the Dumbledore family to end Albus’ life....

So it was again a different world, to say the least, on that dusty, scorching hot, pre-pandemic backlot in Albuquerque over two years ago. Maskless members of the press were huddled together in a small building, talking to a cavalcade of cast and crew members, including Hanks and director Miguel Sapochnik. The biggest safety concern on set wasn’t hygiene or social distancing, but the risk of snakes biting at your ankles (one of the first people we were introduced to was a snake wrangler holding a bucket and a long hook)....

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 In retrospect it’s only natural that as Game of Thrones steadily approaches its climax eight years in the making, the speed and pace of the storytelling would only accelerate. Still, understanding that and accepting that are two different things, particularly as the narratives “blend” into one overall tapestry where there are fewer subplots; now it seems there’s simply the plot. And unexpectedly, to get to that wonderful plot realization of six blokes, all characters with names that we care about, walking to likely a few of their deaths, the narrative has had to spin its wheels faster than the one Daenerys Targaryen is always yammering on about, crushing everything in its path....
