Hypnotic, the new Netflix thriller from directors Suzanne Coote and Matt Angel (The Open House), has arrived to scare the streaming service subscribers into a trance right before Halloween hits. Starring Midnight Mass’ Kate Siegel, Hypnotic centers on Jenn, a woman struggling after a miscarriage and who decides to seek professional help in the form of therapist Dr. Collin Meade (Jason O’Mara). Dr. Meade uses hypnosis on his patients to help them overcome their worst fears and Jenn decides to go under to determine how best to move on from her trauma and how to proceed in her relationship with her ex-fiancé....

Kirkman’s zombie comic series from which the AMC adaptation takes its inspiration ran from 2003 through 2019 and featured a staggering 193 issues. What’s even more impressive, however, is that The Walking Dead wasn’t the only expansive serialized story Kirkman was telling at the same time. To find out the answer, we could crunch the numbers based on TWD‘s run.(which amounts to around 8.17 seasons if my meager calculations are correct) or we could just ask the decision-makers themselves....

Well, that will all change soon! Netflix has finally unveiled the first fruit of their Millarworld collaboration in the form of a release date and teaser for Jupiter’s Legacy. Jupiter’s Legacy is a Millar superhero comic from 2013. This adaptation will arrive on Netflix on May 7, 2021. Check out the first teaser below. While there isn’t much substance in that teaser, that’s OK. The people don’t need substance out of 30-second superhero show teasers, they need style…they need atmosphere....

According to Deadline, three of the tales in the book — “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone,” “Rat” and “The Life of Chuck” — have been snapped up by three different companies. The title story, meanwhile, seems likely to get an adaptation too, since it stars a character that has already appeared in two different King adaptations. King has an unusual way of doing business in that he licenses the options to his stories for the sum of one dollar (with more to come later), although he gets certain creative control rights as part of the bargain and the productions must go in front of the cameras within specified time frames....

Legends of Tomorrow Season 7 Episode 11 It’s hard to put your finger on exactly why the seventh season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is so much better than the rest. The cast and crew are mostly the same core that have been on the show for the last couple of seasons. This season isn’t substantially shorter than the rest, so it’s not like there’s a lot of fat being trimmed....

Legion Season 3 Episode 1 While Dark Phoenix was (not so warmly) greeted as the last installment of the Fox produced Marvel properties (we’ll believe New Mutants is being released only when we’ve got a ticket stub in our hand), Legion is in fact Fox’s final foray in the world of superpowered mutants. The FX series, created by Noah Hawley, is almost a perfect representation of Fox’s X-Men efforts – its first season was heralded as groundbreaking, complex, counter-programing to what other studios were serving up with their superhero IP, but as the series went along, it suffered from a sort of aimlessness and style over substance ethos....

Granted, The Skywalker Saga‘s skill tree system isn’t exactly as deep as the ones found in most modern games, but the LEGO Star Wars games were never exactly that difficult to begin with. Instead, the various class upgrades you’ll find in The Skywalker Saga help add a little flavor to the game’s combat and allow you to feel a sense of progression that goes beyond simply working your way through each episode’s story and hunting collectibles....

With Sabine Wren joining the ensemble of the Ahsoka series for Disney+, more Star Wars Rebels characters could be prepping to make their live-action debuts in the show. “Star Wars: Rebels is one of the greatest unfinished works of art in the Star Wars universe. The Clone Wars follow-up series introduces some instant classic characters, including plucky upstart Ezra Bridger and edgy Mandalorian Sabine Wren. But the series ended on an all-time cliffhanger, with Ezra and supervillain Grand Admiral Thrawn lost in space....

Lower Decks has made its most obscure Star Trek joke yet. Unquestionably, when Mariner drops the name “Xon” in Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode 9, “Crisis Point,” only a fraction of the Trekkie population will truly get it. And that’s okay because this joke not only cuts deep, but it also might have brought a very specific Vulcan back from pseudo-canon purgatory. Lucifer Season 3 Episode 2 It’s been a while since Lucifer’s catchphrase played such an important role in the overall arc, and even though the characters dig deep into their psyches, “The One With the Baby Carrot” manages to do what Lucifer does best, blend a relatively compelling procedural case with humor as the characters work through their personal demons on a path to self-actualization. God’s sons continue their attempts at navigating what they see as both manipulation and evaluation, and as expected, come at that problem from different angles....

The cascade of news began this morning when it was revealed by Deadline that pre-production on Blade had been shut down following the exit of director Bassam Tariq and suggestions that the script needed further work. While it was initially reported that the film would resume production in January 2023 and was still aiming to meet its Nov. 3, 2023 release date, that’s been quickly superseded by the news that Blade is going to move all the way to Sept....

With three shows and four total seasons under their belt, the Marvel Studios/Netflix partnership now comes with a fairly concrete set of expectations. You know you’re going to get something a cut above the average network superhero TV show in terms of production value, and there are places they can go that their broadcast counterparts can’t. Like its predecessors, Iron Fist establishes a slightly different tone (this one comes from Dexter showrunner Scott Buck) and is mostly self contained, with few connections to previous series that might put off a new viewer....

2007’s Mass Effect was touted as BioWare’s most ambitious game until that point, which was true in a lot of ways. Unfortunately, all that ambition resulted in a game that clearly wanted to be a more modernized version of BioWare’s best RPGs but often fell flat on its face as it baby stepped its way into a new era of game design. Like re-watching certain TV shows, the quality and design of the first Mass Effect created a division over whether you should endure that awkward first season....
