Choose or Die is bound to surprise Netflix subscribers who are perhaps hoping for some lighter high concept horror when they give this new movie a spin: it does rather go for the jugular, in some cases literally! It also has a final act that unwraps its very weird central mystery, while perhaps even setting up an intriguing sequel for the streaming service to dish out at a later date....
However, in the premiere episode on the streaming service dedicated to horror, executive producer Jay Cheel tackles the William Friedkin-directed classic, 1973’s The Exorcist. The film—adapted from William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel based on a purportedly true exorcism case—is about a young girl possessed by the demon Pazuzu. Incidents such as actress Linda Blair’s on-set injury, as well as a fire, and off-set deaths of family members all added an heir of curse to the film....

What was this movie trying to accomplish? I still can’t quite figure out. Ostensibly, the English dub of Digimon Adventure tri: Reunion was being marketed to English fans of Digimon. Specifically ones who grew up with the Fox Kids dub. This is reflected in the casting of many of the old voice actors. If this were supposed to only be for hardcore Digimon or anime fans, they wouldn’t have bothered with the old cast....

Much like the original Dying Light, Dying Light 2 is an open-world RPG where players can jump around rooftops, kill shambling zombies, and complete numerous missions. But when night falls, that’s when the big enemies come out of hiding and stalk the streets. Death comes more easily, but the experience is more bountiful. The heightened risk lets players reap better rewards, which is where co-op really comes in handy. Even the most dangerous of enemies are far more surmountable when someone watches your back....

This is by all means par for the course with a film that has experienced a mixed reaction amongst filmgoers and critics in addition to the mainstream-opposed AMPAS. Also, I admittedly stand somewhere along the favorable half of the Interstellar divide: for my money, Christopher Nolan again crafted one of the most thought-provoking films of its year, “big budget” kids table qualifiers be damned. Interstellar might be a Hollywood tentpole, but it is also a stunning one that welcomes speculation about its Secular End Times Mythmaking, as well as scientific scrutiny since it is now considered a resource on the visible structure of black holes in relation to light....
Whedon had been working on The Nevers at HBO for two years with Buffy and Angel alums Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie. The series stars Outlander’s Laura Donnelly, and focuses on a group of women in Victorian times who fight enemies with their strange abilities.
