More recently superheroes comic book adaptations have dominated the cinematic landscape It’s zombies, however, that are now among our most ubiquitous cultural touchstones and it’s not immediately evident why. Maybe something about the unnatural terror of a reanimated corpse has taken hold of our lizard brains....

Burning Roses by S.L. Huang Fairy tales frequently feature young protagonists, especially young women, in peril. Some are able to evade dire fates through their own wits, while others must be rescued. Readers seldom see what becomes of them in their middle age, but that’s exactly what Huang takes on in her novella, Burning Roses. Red Riding Hood, here called Rosa, survived the wolf attack that killed her grandmother. The event convinces her of the evil of the grundwirgen, speaking animals whom her grandmother had tried to teach here were just as much people as humans, but whom her mother had raised her to hate....

With these possibilities out there, it’s no wonder that so many Marvel fans hope to see Chris Evans once again as the star-spangled man with a plan. Evans’s Steve Rogers retired the Captain America persona at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Having defeated Thanos alongside the departed Iron Man and other Marvel heroes, Cap ends his cross-time mission to return the infinity stones by rejoining his beloved Peggy Carter in the 1940s, where the two seemingly lived happily ever after....

Clarice Episode 5 Clarice, episode 5, “Get Right with God,” is the best episode of the season because the show gets right with The Silence of the Lambs. From 2012 through 2015 it would periodically tweet out hypothetical plots from Seinfeld as if it were still on the air today. While the number of bugs you’ll encounter in Cyberpunk 2077 depends on your playstyle, platform, and a bit of luck, there are a few bugs that the vast majority of users seem to encounter at some point. The most annoying of those nearly universal problems has to be this bizarre “crackling” problem with the game’s audio. It’s a little hard to describe, but there are times when playing Cyberpunk 2077 when the in-game audio will produce this popping noise kind of like what you’d hear out of a broken microphone....

While it earned a modest profit during its original 1982 theatrical run, The Dark Crystal never lived up to the high expectations that Universal or project mastermind Jim Henson had for it. Influenced by everything from new age philosophy to classic fantasy works, the film – directed by Henson and frequent collaborator Frank Oz – was a technical marvel that told its ambitious story through revolutionary puppetry techniques. While a bit derivative of Lord of the Rings and Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey (but then again, isn’t everything?...

It was easy to be skeptical when Dexter: New Blood was first announced. The descent into ignominy of the original series is well documented by this point, with the Monty Python-evoking finale infamous even among those who never watched the show. But a dud finale wasn’t Dexter’s only crime, nor the only reason a continuation was a dicey proposition. While the first four seasons remain respected for their dark humor, thorny moral questions, and devastating twists, the second half of the series did everything in its power to squander any goodwill....

Digimon Adventure tri. Movie Five Finding the Digimon Adventure tri. movies enjoyable is really going to hinge on whether you like Meiko as a character or not. For everyone who hasn’t caught my previous reviews of this series, I don’t. I feel like she’s a waste of time that we could be using to focus on our other characters. I’m not opposed to adding new characters (I think Himekawa especially is fascinating) but Meiko just eats up so much time that our team feels like an after thought....

The biggest title this month is undoubtedly Obi-Wan Kenobi with two episodes premiering on May 27. Ewan McGregor reprises his role from the Star Wars prequel films to portray the beloved last Jedi (for now) in the six-episode series. Details about the plot are already starting to trickle out so steer clear as best you can if you want an unspoiled experience. Despite it being nearly 20 years since Molina last played Doc Ock in a movie—way back when Tobey Maguire was still Spider-Man and George W. Bush was only in his first term as President of the United States—the excitement audiences had at seeing the not-so-good doctor up to no damn good was palpable. Part of this, of course, is due to the fan theory that if Molina is coming back, then Maguire probably will too (although that isn’t confirmed)....
