In the film, Spencer plays Sue Ann, a quiet, seemingly unassuming loner who lives and works as a veterinary assistant in a small Ohio town. One day she’s approached by a group of said teenagers, among them Maggie (Diana Silvers), who’s just moved to town with her newly divorced mom (Juliette Lewis). Sue Ann is reluctant at first, but relents and goes one step further: the kids can come drink safely in her basement....
The trailer doesn’t offer many details (another trend of the evening), but it does feature some sweeping views of space coupled with grand ramblings that conclude with an Asari digging through the snow of an ice planet and uncovering a remnant of discarded N7 armor. The implication is that this is Shepard’s armor and that we’re viewing the aftermath of Mass Effect 3‘s stunning conclusion which seemingly unraveled the fabric of the Mass Effect universe....
Hamish Linklater – Father Paul Samantha Sloyan as Bev Keane The villainous Bev Keane is another stand-out performance in Midnight Mass thanks to Samantha Sloyan, whom you might remember as Leigh Crain, the wife of novelist Steven Crain in 2019’s The Haunting of Hill House. Prior to that, she played Maddie’s neighbour Sarah in Mike Flanagan’s Hush, as well as the recurring roles of Jeannine Locke in Scandal, Dr. Penelope Blake in Grey’s Anatomy, and several appearances as Victoria in SEAL Team....
They are guided by Pelle (Vilhelm Blomgren), a Swedish exchange student who is taking them to his ancestral tribe’s remote village for a festival that happens only once every 90 years. Once they arrive in the land of the Harga, the group’s varying interests — getting away from it all, Ph.D. studies and sampling the local talent — all dissipate in the face of horrific, enigmatic rituals they aren’t prepared for....
“The blood didn’t come out,” Leto says, looking off to the side. “Wanna go again?” On any other production, that little practical-FX slip-up might have been ripe for the post-release blooper reel. But while Leto briefly breaks character to acknowledge the error, there’s no corpsing here – he remains focused, shuffling around on his crutches while the unit quickly sets up for another take. The second run-out is more successful; this time, the knife opens up a big, bloody, creature-baiting gash....

Framed in an eerie slow-boiling dread, as per critics who saw the movie at the Cannes Film Festival while likening it to Robert Eggers’ The Witch and Ari Aster’s Hereditary, Lamb appears to be bathed in an unnatural eeriness. A fresh clip from Sony and Marvel Studios’ hotly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home makes reference to the Hawkeye TV series currently streaming on Disney+, indicating that the two projects are likely set concurrently in the MCU timeline. The new No Way Home clip premiered on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week and features the opening minute of the Peter Parker and Doctor Strange team-up threequel, which starts exactly where Marvel’s previous web-crawler outing, Spider-Man: Far From Home, left off....
Today, Florence is chiefly remembered as the architect behind what some might call the greatest act of attempted vandalism in cinematic history. She did, after all, pursue with the tenacity of Abraham Van Helsing a scorched earth crusade intent on having all prints of Nosferatu burned to ash. If she had succeeded, F.W. Murnau’s German Expressionist masterpiece, and one of the finest horror films ever produced, would have been lost to posterity—instead of still being watched and celebrated exactly 100 years since its Berlin premiere....
But then I keep coming back to the same thought: I would still watch the hell out of it. Because while the combination of the artist and the art could not be more dissimilar, the potential for an invigorating new interpretation makes it worthwhile, especially in an IP-happy era where genuine auteurship is harder to come by. In fact, to a smaller extent — hear me out, this is gonna be good — what if I told you the experience of a Tarantino Star Trek film might not be all that dissimilar from a 2005 anime film from the mega-popular series One Piece?...
Heck, some Oscar voters are so anxious to bring audiences back to this March’s telecast that there’s even momentum for Spider-Man: No Way Home getting an Oscar nod for Best Picture! (More on that below.) It’s of course still a strange Oscar season where one feel-good contender after the next failed to feel good about finding an audience in theaters. A cynic might even wonder if mainstream audiences’ understanding of what a “movie” is has changed in the age of streaming at home and Marvel Studios claiming a third of revenue in theaters....
Seasons 3 and 4 were Parks and Recreation’s undeniable sweet spot. The dull Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider) had left, the brilliant Ben Wyatt and Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe and Adam Scott) had arrived, the adorable Andy and April (Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza) were a couple, and Leslie and Ron (Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman) had reached hero status. There are moments of greatness dotted elsewhere in the show’s 125 episode history though, as this one never really went off the boil....
Of all the clichés uttered on the promotional circuit, the one most likely to sink the stomach is being told that a hot new series ‘is really a 10-hour movie.’ As a phrase, it’s so derided by now the real wonder is that anybody continues to say it (and yet they do. Perhaps they’re telling the truth about not reading their own press).
