Whether you love or hate his style, there is no denying Zack Snyder is an original. From 300 to Watchmen, and Man of Steel to Justice League, his characters often hover above the screen as much as occupy it. They’re mythic figures who’ve stepped off a Botticelli canvas, or at least Frank Miller comic book panels, and they’re imbued with such a sense of scale from their director that the aesthetic is nigh impossible to duplicate....

The PlayStation may have helped move us out of the arcade era and its notorious difficulty levels, but with the challenges of 3D game design came a new set of in-game challenges that tested a generation of gamers in ways that they simply were not prepared for. Even after we’ve grown accustomed to the machinations and expectations of 3D game design all these years later, I suspect that many modern gamers would struggle to beat the 15 hardest PlayStation One games ever....

As Genesis fans know, though, that library of arcade-like games meant that the average Genesis title was often as brutally difficult as the arcade games of that era that set standards for hard video games that some fans argue (much like the games themselves) haven’t been beat. I won’t reignite a console war here, but if you were a ’90s gamer looking for the biggest challenges, you usually found them on the Genesis....

That’s given the console something of a mixed reputation among more “hardcore” gamers, though. While there are some admittedly classic games on the console, like the Super Mario Galaxy titles and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Wii is equally known for being home to a large number of barely playable shovelware. Still, between those top tier games and the very bottom of the barrel, a few hidden gems do stand out on the console....

Alternatively, you can watch this condensed version of the actual gameplay footage that gets right into the action. There’s obviously a lot to break down from that footage, and there’s still quite a lot we actually don’t know about the game. However, the most important thing that this new footage does is confirm the long-running suspicion that Fight Forever is really an elaborate tribute to the golden age of N64 wrestling games best exemplified by the exceptional 2000 title, WWF No Mercy....

After eight years and 170 episodes, Arrow has officially hung up its proverbial hood. The granddaddy of the DC TV superhero universe said farewell with “Fadeout,” an emotional, satisfying hour that paid tribute to both the recently departed Oliver Queen and the impact of the show that bears his (superhero) name. Many of us probably wondered how Arrow would handle its final two episodes, given that its leading man was killed off (twice) in the recent Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover....

Attack on Titan Season 3 Episode 20 “Why? Because it’s fun…” Attack on Titan is an extremely fantastical series that features man-eating monsters, unfathomable special abilities, and absolutely dazzling weaponry. It’s a series that always boils down to the people, not the monsters, but it still exists in this heightened take on reality. Attack on Titan contains outlandish sci-fi storylines, but the new information that all of this started over ingrained racism, a war for oil, and a recycling of power between feuding forces is certainly a level of reality that I wouldn’t have expected to enter the series....

While Better Call Saul could go in many different directions in its final two episodes, the 11th of the season, “Breaking Bad,” gave us some ambiguous intel on the character we’ve all been most curious about ever since this final season started: Kim Wexler. Rhea Seehorn’s mesmerizing portrayal of Jimmy’s love interest for the past six seasons left his life before the parent show ever started, meaning her fate has been up in the air for years....

Like every other entertainment entity out there, Blumhouse has been impacted heavily by the coronavirus pandemic. Not only has the company shuffled release dates and moved films either onto premium VOD or out of 2020 completely, but production of new titles came to a virtual standstill for the better part of eight months. Blumhouse, however, is finally ramping up production and development on a number of new titles, and during a round of recent press interviews for the company’s new movie, Freaky (which will arrive in theaters later this week even though movie attendance is still down or unavailable), we asked president Jason Blum about a handful of movies on the company’s always crowded slate....

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 Episode 5 NBC is hellbent on burning through the final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine for some reason. Each week the show has aired one traditional season 8 episode mixed with another peppered with political commentary. It’s an odd move, creating a disorienting tone and making certain episodes feel like filler. That perception is held at bay this week at least with a curtain call for the Pontiac Bandit....

The funny thing about that definition is that it’s not that far off. Your processor basically keeps all the other components in your computer in line. It tells them what to do and helps optimize their performance....

The first wave of Call of Duty: Vanguard sales figures are starting to pour in, and they strongly suggest that this franchise will continue to dominate the next generation of gaming. While we’re still waiting for Vanguard‘s full sales figures to become available, UK retailers are reporting that the game’s physical sales figures were strong enough to knock FIFA 22 out of the top spot (which is a nice little accomplishment on its own)....

The trailer for Coming 2 America starts by taking us back to the fictional African nation of Zamunda, this time with modern CGI helping to depict new aspects of the sprawling splendor we saw in the original film. After some scenes that clearly bear thematic influence (to the point of parody,) from a property that popped up during the years since the first movie, The Lion King, the clip starts serving its first helping from a basket brimming with juicy member berries, with a voiceover from James Earl Jones’s returning King Jaffe Joffer....

Reports of a possible Rome movie continuing the narrative of the series sprung up shortly after its finale aired in March 2007. By itself that episode seemed to offer plenty of finality, with the character of Octavian (Simon Woods) assuming the title of “First Citizen of Rome” (emperor), and Atia (Polly Walker) taking pride in her son’s triumph, even as she quietly mourned the death of Marc Antony (James Purefoy)....

To mark the 40th anniversary of Channel 4 this month, the very first show broadcast on the channel has opened its door to four broadcasting greats, each of whom will host Countdown for one week. Let’s meet the new presenters joining lexicographer Susie Dent and mathematician Rachel Riley on the words and numbers puzzle game. Oct 31st – Nov 4th: Baroness Floella Benjamin First up was children’s television legend, and House of Lords life peer Baroness Floella Benjamin, who hosted Countdown from Monday October 31st to Friday November 4th....

Though that admiration has been on display for years through his work as a director and EP on The Walking Dead — for which he’s still in the process of shooting the eleventh, and final, season — Nicotero seems to be having a grand time crafting love letters to horror as showrunner on Creepshow, the anthology series on the Shudder platform in its third season. In our recent video interview with him, Nicotero describes Creepshow season 2 stories “Public Television of the Dead,” “Model Kid,” and “Night of the Living Late Show” as very personal because each spoke to a different aspect of his life....

But then along came 1998’s Bride of Chucky, a bizarre almost send-up which introduced Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany, Chucky’s soulmate/fellow killer doll. The only thing more ridiculous than one evil doll is two. And the only thing more ridiculous than two evil dolls is their offspring, who we met in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, a deliberately schlocky 90 minutes that was so self-aware it not only cast Jennifer Tilly as herself but brought in John Waters for a spirited cameo, just in case you had any doubt about where a movie that involved a woman getting artificially inseminated by a turkey baster full of doll jizz’s loyalties lay....

It’s safe to say that Slade Wilson is the most versatile villain maybe in all of comicdom, something he proved to the general public on the CW’s Arrow where Manu Bennett channeled Slade Wilson’s entire legacy of violence, bringing it to life perfectly and taking Oliver Queen to that next level. But Bennett isn’t alone Joe Manganiello will play Deathstroke in an upcoming DCEU movie and Esai Morales has just landed the role for Titans season 2 on DC Universe....
