Amy & Sheldon – The Big Bang Theory When The Big Bang Theory started back in 2007, the idea of a comedy about three clever but awkward ‘nerds’ trying to ‘get’ pretty girls, often through nefarious means somehow didn’t seem as gross. But even back then, Sheldon was a dick. His dickishness is the joke. He’s rude, superior, selfish, lacking in empathy and deeply controlling. He is no doubt neurologically atypical but that doesn’t stop him from being a dick....

The show launched the career of director/auteur J.J. Abrams (and you can feel however you need to feel about that in hindsight), turned star Jennifer Garner into a household name, and gave us some of the best fight sequences in television history. Alias also laid a lot of the groundwork for many of the television trends that would become commonplace in the years following its debut: Dense, confusing internal mythology, highly serialized narratve arcs, and a palpable sense that even its ostensibly one-off episodes somehow connected to a larger whole beyond themselves....

Yet if you’re a cinephile or movie lover who is desperate for new stories and visions, it is not all doom and gloom. Between the streaming market of Netflix, VOD, and other platforms, as well as some smaller films willing to roll the dice on a limited theatrical release, there are still more than a few things to see in October 2020… 2067 October 2 (U.S. Only) A high-concept science fiction setup if we’ve ever heard one, 2067 is the story of Ethan Whyte (Kodi Smit-McPhee), a young man born in a dystopian future where he learns that he might be the savior of humanity… at least that’s what people from an even more distant future are saying....

With the release of season 6 part two on Dec. 30, Vikings has come to an end. While the spinoff Vikings: Vahalla is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2021, it will pick up the story of the Viking and Anglo-Saxon conflict 100 years after the last events depicted in the original series. Thus the series finale of Vikings means we are saying goodbye to all the characters whose exploits viewers have enjoyed these last seven years....

Maturity comes in recognizing the world is more complex than a handful of flurries in a snow globe, but Santa need not be....

WandaVision, which premieres Friday (Jan. 15) on Disney+, stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as the supernaturally powerful Wanda Maximoff and the equally enhanced synthezoid Vision, with the newly married couple navigating life in suburban Westview, a black and white setting right out of classic half-hour comedies like The Dick van Dyke Show or Bewitched, complete with live audience. But since Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Wanda was not just traumatized by his death but dusted herself by Thanos (only to return, thirsting for vengeance, at the climax of Avengers: Endgame), we have to wonder: how is Vision alive, why are they here, and what is behind this clearly unreal scenario?...

WandaVision Episode 6 Ah, remember last week? When you were living in the glowing warmth of corporate synergy? When Disney’s ownership of Fox meant that, aside from essentially creating a monopoly, the company could also finally introduce the X-Men into the MCU? What a wild time. And in the wake of that utterly satisfying and enjoyable reveal, we now find Westview changed once again. The ’90s never happened and instead the Visions are living in what seems to be the year 2000....

After seven painfully short episodes of Marvel’s WandaVision, we’re still none the wiser about how exactly the Westview anomaly was created, and how Vision was brought back to life. We’ve just been introduced to one potential villain in the form of nosy neighbor Agnes – unveiled as powerful Marvel Comics witch Agatha Harkness – and we’ve seen that Wanda is still far from a malevolent force. She has threatened people who’ve encroached on The Hex, but she hasn’t killed any of them, and we don’t know how aware she is about the true ramifications of her control over the town’s residents....

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finishes off Marvel’s chaotic and oversaturated Phase 4 and while there’s much to be said about the heroes of Wakanda taking up arms after T’Challa’s abrupt demise, one of the true highlights of the movie is Tenoch Huerta as Namor, the Sub-Mariner. The aquatic king known to his people as K’uk’ulkan is a revelation in Wakanda Forever. Not only does he steal whatever scene he’s in, but he already feels like a potentially major fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe....

MCU: 2019-2022 While we have gotten some glimpses into life in the MCU during the Blip, for the most part, none of the MCU stories take place during this time. Many have compared this fictional period to the real-life experience of living during a pandemic, especially during lockdown when it can feel like time is standing still....
