Into the Badlands Season 2 Episode 1 In case you didn’t notice, I was feeling um, “on the fence” about Into the Badlands last year. That’s putting it nicely. Not saying it was terrible or anything, but let’s just say I had some beef with it. Case in point: its pace was way too slow for an ambitious martial arts action/drama. There was a lot of talking – and I mean a lot of talking – a bunch of deep south soap opera shade flying around, a questionable accent or two, plus an incredibly distracting beard that could have been a character in its own right....

So…uh…what about when someone goes from “breathing” to “truffle powder” on screen? He’s dead, right?...

Lethal Weapon Season 2, Episode 11 “Where you start in this world is not where you end up.” “Funny Money” is one of those episodes of Lethal Weapon that finds a way to pair an interesting crime together with some personal drama from the characters’ lives. There’s a lot on the plate in this installment, but “Funny Money” streamlines it to keep the feel relevant and the episode becomes thematically stronger as a result....

The secret to Lightyear’s success is that it stands on its own. The clever opening text explains that this is the movie that Andy’s Buzz Lightyear toy was based on, which is useful in that it places it neatly within the Toy Story universe but also frees it up to tell its own adventure without having to be shackled to the plots of the original movies. It’s a fiction within a fiction, which is a lot of fun....

“On Sunday night, SAG’s top film award, best ensemble, was won by CODA, Apple’s moving dramedy about a family of four, three of whom are deaf and the fourth of whom is hearing. The cast of CODA — the first primarily deaf cast ever to win this honor — held off the casts of fellow best picture Oscar nominees Belfast, Don’t Look Up, and King Richard, as well as House of Gucci, and was very warmly received in the room....

The late MythBusters host Grant Imahara would have turned 50 years old last week. A noted robotics engineer, Imahara had dedicated his prolific career to inspire others to partake in science and art. In honor of his life and legacy, his family and friends have established The Grant Imahara STEAM Foundation. “There are many students, like my son Grant, who need the balance of the technical and the creative, and this is what STEAM is all about,” said Carolyn Imahara, Grant’s mother and Foundation co-founder....

The film follows O’Brien’s character Joel, a slightly nervous young man who has lost his parents and virtually everyone else he knows after mutated insects take over the planet. He has survived for the last seven years living with his colony in a bunker but Joel is sad. The rest of the group has paired off leaving him lonely and pining for his former girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick). So when Joel manages to contact Aimee by radio and discovers she is living in another colony some 85 miles away, Joel decides to make the hazardous journey above ground to find her....

My takeaway from Marvel’s Avengers after completing its story campaign and playing through hours of its online multiplayer component is that the game will not meet your expectations. It’s ultimately a bit of a letdown. Certain aspects of Marvel’s Avengers can be even extraordinarily good, but there’s a lack of consistency that runs throughout the game on several levels as well as fundamental flaws that keep it from standing alongside the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series in the superhero game pantheon....

Marvel’s Eternals probably has more heavy lifting to do than any other standalone MCU entry in years. With 10 leads, brand-new cosmic concepts that require a whole lot of dialogue to explain, a massive ending (which we explore in detail here), and the general sense that Marvel is looking to change the very fabric of the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, there’s a lot to take in. And if that isn’t enough, Eternals goes ahead and introduces a new member of the Avengers in its mid-credits scene and then sets up another character for a heroic arc and the potential path to becoming a member of the Avengers in its post-credits scene....

Marvel fans who loved seeing this badass version of Peggy in the Disney+ series are definitely going to want to keep an eye on stands come March 9, because Captain Carter is getting her very own 5-issue comic book run courtesy of Jamie McKelvie (Young Avengers) and Marika Cresta (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra). In Marvel Comics’ Captain Carter, Peggy’s journey has played out a little differently, with a “cascade of consequences” opening up all kinds of narrative avenues....
