There are a lot of anime about the slaying of demons. Almost too many, in fact. If someone was supposed to make an anime, but then forgot and had to quickly rush something together at the last minute, they’d make it about demon slaying. At this point it’s a little exhausting whenever a new demon-slaying anime gets announced, but it’s for this very reason that the series that work are especially effective....

It’s become a common tradition for the most popular anime series to get theatrical adaptations. It’s not surprising then that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is the latest to make this leap considering the tremendous success of the anime and manga. These cinematic endeavors can sometimes be a mixed bag due to a tendency to function as recap compilations or entertaining sagas that ultimately become unnecessary filler in the context of the anime....

Generally speaking, Diablo Immortal throws a ton of ratings, stats, and mechanics at you in an attempt to generate enough confusion to eventually incentivize you to spend a little money to make things easier. However, you’ll reach a point when you realize that most of the game’s stats all bow to the importance of your character’s Combat Rating. For as important as your Combat Rating can be in Diablo Immortal, the game doesn’t exactly do a good job of letting you know what your current Combat Rating actually is or how to raise it....

Better Call Saul just aired one of the most shocking episodes of its entire run. “Plan and Execution,” the midseason finale of the show’s sixth and final season, features a truly shocking character death. After Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) thoroughly ruined his life with their cruelest con yet, soon-to-be-former lawyer Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian) pays them a visit to dress them down. The scene is already an emotionally fraught one, with Howard finally telling Jimmy and Kim everything he thinks about them and accurately pegging them as psychopaths who get off on other people’s misery....

When Giselle was banished from Andalasia and sent to the “real” three-dimensional world of New York City, she found true love with single dad/lawyer Robert (Patrick Dempsey and his famously great hair) and his young daughter, Morgan. There, Adams glowed as the living embodiment of a Disney princess. Her poofy dresses, animal helpers, and penchant for bursting into song could’ve easily been grating on paper, but the star and her wide-eyed naiveté were irresistibly convincing....

That’s not to say that neither Star Wars nor Marvel will play a role on Disney+ this month. Star Wars prequel series Andor will continue to chug along, culminating with its 12th episode and season 1 finale on Nov. 23. Meanwhile, a couple of minor Marvel documentaries make their premieres in the beginning of the month. In place of new Star Wars or Marvel blockbusters, Disney+ is turning some of its lesser-known franchises this month....

That’s the final line of Sam Raimi’s grooviest Evil Dead movie, Army of Darkness, but for Marvel fans of a certain sensibility, the thought had to spring to mind while watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. One might even count Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige among those ranks. Not since James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films and Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok has a Marvel director seemed to be so liberated, acting with enough freedom to leave their own stylistic stamp on a Marvel movie....

Indeed, Moffat’s time on the show is in conversation with the entire history of Doctor Who, asking fundamental questions about the character’s identity, ethics and flaws, going right back to the character’s beginnings (near the beginning and end of his first incarnation) and asserting the importance of fear as a motivating factor (which absolutely clicks if you go back and watch the Hartnell stories with that in mind). Children and childhood became important on a wider scale in the Moffat era....

To get the very bad news out of the way first, there is no way to repair every weapon in Dying Light 2. That is to say that (unlike many other RPGs) there isn’t some workbench or item that you can simply use on a weapon in order to “just” restore its durability and prevent it from breaking. The lack of such a mechanic is certainly an odd omission, but it does seem to feed into the narrative idea that resources are precious in this world and that losing a valuable weapon should hurt quite a bit....

Madness is arguably one of the most debilitating debuffs in Elden Ring. When triggered, it takes a significant chunk out of a player’s health and FP, momentarily stuns them, and temporarily prevents them from casting any spells. Like every other status effect, Madness has to slowly fill a meter before it actually affects its victim, but players have discovered a deviously simple combination of stats and items that allows the Madness effect to proc instantly (or almost instantly)....

The promising premise it squanders is six strangers receive mysterious invitations to participate in an exclusive and highly competitive Minos escape room. It doesn’t take long for them to realize that this is no game. The consequences are deadly, and the clues have deeply personal significance to various members of the group. Put on the trail of finding a mysterious “Dr. Yutang Wu,” the half-dozen characters fight for their lives, reckon with their pasts, and try to keep from killing one another....

It’s hard to debate this sort of thing before the fact. We don’t know what Fantastic Beasts‘ attempts at queer representation might look like because the franchise has never given us any. Despite Rowling’s post-Potter books announcement that she has always considered the character of Albus Dumbledore to be gay and the Fantastic Beasts‘ centering of the generally presumed to be queer relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, the Fantastic Beasts franchise has avoided representing Dumbledore’s sexual identity or the specific nature of is relationship with Grindelwald—to the detriment of the story....
