One of the most intriguing unanswered questions in Squid Game‘s nine episodes is how Front Man In-ho, revealed to be not only rogue undercover cop Jun-ho’s missing brother but also a previous winner of Squid Game, went from a desperate contestant in the deadly competition to an active part of its execution. Now that the Korean social horror has become the most-watched original Netflix series ever, there’s a good chance we could get another installment of Squid Game sometime in the future....

The latest episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 is not only the most shocking of the season, it’s also the one that references… board games the most? Not only do Burnham and Spock play chess, there’s also a huge callback to a board game played on Star Trek: Voyager! But the Easter eggs and references don’t end there. From gravity boots to holographic biases and conversations about mines, this episode’s spanned nearly every version of Star Trek in existence....

Of course, Qui-Gon was killed at the end of The Phantom Menace, but the idea of Neeson’s onscreen return as the character—presumably as a Force ghost—has been a topic of much speculation ever since. However, for reasons that were never quite confirmed, said return never happened in the follow-up films, leaving one of many cited Prequel Trilogy plot holes. Interestingly, Neeson was recently asked about a prospective onscreen Star Wars return in an interview with Collider....

Stargirl Season 2 Episode 8 Summer has been no fun for the kids of Stargirl. The newest season has seen them lose teammates and classmates as well as taking on Eclipso, their most terrifying foe yet. After the shocking events of episode seven which saw Yolanda Montez abandon the mantle of Wildcat for her own sanity, episode eight focuses on Rick Tyler’s Hourman, who’s having issues of his own. It’s one of Stargirl‘s most powerful episodes yet, anchored by an incredible performance by Cameron Gellman....

What first appeared to be a dubious tonal choice for the scene in which Cormoran and Robin conducted a murder witness interview through a parping orchestra of old lady guffs turned out to be a pivotal clue. The farts and the murders were caused (if not committed) by the same person! That person was former nurse, current psychopath and serial poisoner Janice Beattie (played in the present day by small screen powerhouse Anna Calder-Marshall), a killer who displayed her murderous trophies just as flagrantly as Dennis Creed, and who evaded capture for far longer....

Perhaps you’ve heard by now, but the season 1 finale of Yellowstone prequel 1883 killed off its lead character. That’s not very unusual on its face. Plenty of TV shows kill off important characters and season finales present good occasions to do so. One major character death alone certainly isn’t enough to make a fuss over or write an article about (though we probably would anyway because Yellowstone and 1883 are huge deals)....

Midway through The Boys season 3 episode 4 “Glorious Five Year Plan” Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) delivers a dire warning to Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) about the dangers of the new Compound-V spinoff drug, V24. “Hughie, it’s not power. It’s punishment. And you don’t deserve none of it,” Butcher says. Butcher’s words are powerful but they ultimately fall flat with the power-hungry Hughie – and not only because they resemble Tim Meadows’ “you don’t want no part of this shit” speech from Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story....

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It treads thornier ground. Billed as the Warrens’ darkest case yet, it’s the story of Arne Johnson, a young man who murdered his landlord and claimed he was possessed by a demon at the time. A true crime version of this could make for a fascinating watch, but despite glimpses of courtroom scenes in the trailer, the legal precedent is not the angle The Conjuring 3 takes – and it’s probably for the best....

Those ordinary folk doing whatever it takes for freedom include Sean Bean, Miranda Richardson, Adrian Lester, Adam Brody, Michael Biehn and, of course, Billy Zane. Zane plays the fantastically-named Joker Jones, a man described as “a matador of the night” who’s an online sensation thanks to his self-filmed videos of death-defying acts on the road. In his modified camper van (complete with Tiki Bar), Jones and crewmates El Capitano and Cheese chase chaos during the race....

Before QAnon infiltrated the collective unconscious of susceptible seekers, Sherry J. Shriner used Facebook and YouTube as a breeding ground to groom impressionable minds into followers of an anti-lizard cult. Most of the youngsters who got caught up in the movement never harbored any prejudice against lizards prior to their indoctrination. Some may have even envied their amphibian prowess. But once Shriner told them about the mind control and body-snatching, and how they wanted to bring about the rule of the Antichrist, they became radicalized....

The pair’s last attempt to reenergize and sequelize a storied horror title, 2018’s Halloween, was both a box office and well-deserved critical success. It ignored decades of inferior sequels, retcons, and reboots and focused on picking up the story—40 years later—at the heart of the property: Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) battle against Michael Myers....

The Expanse Season 3 Episode 2 In previous reviews for The Expanse, the show has been praised for its use of gravity as a character in that the actual science behind g-forces, whether null or boosted by acceleration, informs the overall story to great effect. Upon watching “IFF,” it seems more accurate to say that gravity is a catalyst for conflict or a focus for action, and the episode excelled in this regard....

The short answer is: it doesn’t need to. Ty Franck, one half of the writing duo that wrote the novels and also writes for the show, told us in a recent interview, “We’re not doing the last three books in six episodes. There’s a natural stopping point after book six, or at least a natural pause point. So it’s a good place to sort of finish the story we’ve been telling for six seasons....

The Flash Season 5 Episode 14 Is it wrong that I actually pumped my fist in the air the moment that it appeared that Killer Frost had died? Wait, I’m getting ahead of myself…time to rewind time. The Flash Season 5, while certainly better than the plodding, tonally inconsistent season four, has been a weird one, hasn’t it? The strongest start in the show’s history, a promising introduction for Cicada, a wonderful new character with Nora (and the terrific mystery that she and Thawne bring) have been tempered by the fact that Cicada has failed to sustain any kind of momentum, the possibly irreversible destruction of Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost as an interesting ongoing proposition, and the absurd naivete of Iris turning her blog into the Central City Citizen....
