The game’s menu tells you that “in classic mode, the original 1-60 level range will be used instead of the new 1-30 level range. XP and talent points progression remains the same, but the number of levels is doubled.” It’s understandable the developers wanted to keep that menu explanation as concise as possible, but that brief summary of the differences between those options has also understandably raised some additional questions....

The beloved quiz show announced on August 11 that it had finally done the impossible and selected legendary host Alex Trebek’s replacement. In this case, it’s replacements. Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards will take over as the full time host of the syndicated series beginning with its 38th season. Meanwhile, fellow guest host and former Blossom and Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik will also be involved with the show going forward....

Belgian DJ Dimitri Vegas also became a Sub-Zero skin and also recorded voice lines for the classic fighter for some reason. As you’d expect, Vegas’ delivery is bad but also hilarious in a “Why does this even exist?” kind of way. That’s not to say that all celebrity voice acting is bad in this game. In a truly inspired move, NetherRealm brought in Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa to play Shang Tsung as both the host of the game’s Krypt and as the first DLC character....

Based on King’s New York Times best-selling Bill Hodges Trilogy, the title character owes a debt to classic detectives. Brendan Gleeson brings a grizzled annoyance to his obsession over a case which will never go cold. Harry Treadaway’s serial killer Brady Hartsfield, aka Mr. Mercedes, the title character of the series, made an unexpected departure, but left Lou Linklatter (Breeda Wool) the keys to his wheels and some of his fondest memories....

Then we got Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Where many updates of old franchises simply take concepts and do a modern take on them, Revelation instead was a love letter to fans of the franchise. It wasn’t a reboot of He-Man, it was a continuation of the original show. It was filled to the brim with references and callbacks, both obvious and deep cut. This was a show that wasn’t just using nostalgia as a marketing tactic, it was actively courting its original audience and making something specific for them....

In writer-director Jordan Peele’s Nope, a brother and sister named OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and Emerald (Keke Palmer) Haywood are struggling to keep their family business – which provides trained horses for Hollywood productions – afloat following the bizarre death of their father, Otis (Keith David), and studios’ increasing dependence on CG rather than real animals. The taciturn OJ (or Otis Jr.) wants to keep the business alive and hang onto the family ranch nestled in a remote California valley north of Los Angeles, while the more outgoing Emerald wants to somehow find a way to monetize their legacy as she pursues her own dreams of Hollywood fame....

Outer Range follows a rancher, Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), fighting for his land and keeping his family together. Royal eventually stumbles upon a mysterious black void in a pasture on his property, coinciding with the arrival of Autumn (Imogen Poots), a strange drifter with some sort of spiritual connection to Abbott’s ranch. While the Abbott family copes with the disappearance of their daughter-in-law Rebecca, they are pushed further to the brink when a rival family, the Tillersons, try to take over their land....

“Sometimes dead is better” in Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s new take on Stephen King’s cautionary fable Pet Sematary, a gothic, glossy remake which goes hard on the horror. For a time ‘remake’ was a dirty word in genre circles but after the storming success of IT in 2017, digging up back catalog King and bringing it back from the dead is all the rage (keep your eye out for upcoming resurrections of Firestarter, The Stand, and The Tommyknockers for starters) Would Pet Sematary have been better left to rest in peace?...

Naturally, this sent PlayStation fans into a frenzy, as they searched for more information on which retailers were planning to open PS5 pre-orders the next day. But even the most eagle-eyed consumers weren’t ready for what followed. Despite that fact that pre-orders were set to go live on Sept. 17, several retailers put their listings up early. The result was about what you’d expect. Walmart was the first to open pre-orders ahead of schedule and Best Buy, Target, and GameStop quickly followed suit....

Howard serves as executive producer for The Astronauts, a new live-action kids series coming to Nickelodeon on Nov. 13. It’s the first kids series to come from Howard and Brian Grazer’s production company, Imagine Entertainment, which launched a new division in 2019 called Imagine Kids+Family, headed up by Stephanie Sperber. In early meetings between the network and production company, the prospect of doing a space show for kids was exciting to both parties....

For the movie, Soderbergh colludes with the Big Four Automakers to cloud the atmosphere. The caper careens through a smoggy set of turns, picking up passengers like Ray Liotta, Jon Hamm, David Harbour, Brendan Fraser, and Bill Duke (in killer shades) for a wild ride downhill. It all stops with Mr. Big, played with beneficent malignancy by Matt Damon. Nothing is what it seems in No Sudden Move. It was written by Ed Solomon, a veteran best known for his work on Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Charlie’s Angels, Men in Black, and The Garry Shandling Show....

Shameless Season 8 Episode 10 The name of tonight’s episode is “Church of Gay Jesus,” which is fitting because it is something of a miracle for a show in its eighth season to feel as fresh and bemusing as Shameless has during its better moments this year. While this season certainly is more unwieldy than Shameless in its unapologetically humble (and demented) beginnings, episodes like “Church of Gay Jesus” can distill the series into its best essence as an unlikely marriage between dark humor and poignant sentimentality....
