Turning a 1990s sitcom like Home Improvement into a video game resulted in a side-scrolling Mega Man-esque knockoff that saw Tim “the Tool Man” Taylor killing prehistoric animals with wrenches and hammers. It’s proof that many TV programs simply shouldn’t be translated to the gaming medium because there’s no sensible way to do so. Even when there is an attempt that makes sense, like the action-oriented The Sopranos: Road to Respect, the shoddy execution of the idea hinders the whole project....

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever begins with the unexpected, shocking (and offscreen) death of Wakanda’s King T’Challa, victim of an unspecified disease that even his brilliant scientist sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) could not stop. It’s a harrowing, relatively brief prologue to the film that, of course, reflects the real-life 2020 passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. T’Challa’s death seemingly leaves Wakanda, now ruled by T’Challa and Shuri’s mother, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), vulnerable, especially since no one is stepping up right away to take on the mantle of the country’s protector: the Black Panther....

Since 1967, there have literally been hundreds of officially licensed Star Trek books published. AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 announcement came with a teaser trailer bearing imagery hinting that the series (which started in Los Angeles,) will stay in its current Texas setting. However, the latest Madison rumor stems from this past October’s Season 6 premiere, which picked up on the cliffhanger moment in which Morgan (Lennie James) was left for dead, mortally wounded from a gunshot to the chest from the imperious leader of survivor group the Pioneers, Virginia (Colby Minifie)....

The release of a new WoW expansion comes with a level of anticipation, dread, and curiosity that we don’t typically see in expansions to other live service games. While I don’t think that Sony and their studio partners simply woke up and chose violence in regards to how difficult some of the PS3’s most notable games are, it’s kind of amazing to think that some of this console’s best titles helped change the conversations we have about the very concept of difficult video games. For that matter, some of the PS3’s best action games are the hardest we’ve seen since the arcade era....

Created by actor-turned-filmmaker Taylor Sheridan and starring Kevin Costner, Yellowstone boasts some truly eye-popping viewership numbers. Though the show was a hit right out of the gate, it’s reached new heights in its fourth season. The season 4 premiere drew in 12.7 million viewers in the Nielsen Ratings Live+3 metric. That made it the most-watched premiere on cable since The Walking Dead in 2017. Naturally, a show this successful almost has to become a franchise and introduce at least one spinoff....

As indicated by its title, 1917 is a stunning microcosm for the war that ushered in our modern age with blood and sacrifice, as well as a tribute to the men who spilled both by the millions. It is also a magnificent achievement for Mendes and Deakins. More than just a technical marvel and another masterpiece in a year filled with several, 1917 is a hauntingly evocative work that is likely to change how war stories are filmed, and how we process their lessons a century later....

As it turns out, you can make a sound in A Quiet Place—so long as it is loud enough that it’s too much for these blind demons that hunt us. Such is the ending to John Krasinski’s surprisingly taut and relentlessly grueling horror movie. Because for the entire picture up until that point, we have been told that to even speak above a whisper is to invite death. And that is still true, but it is now time for the monster’s deaths too....
