The biggest new arrival this month on Disney+ is undoubtedly She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Aug. 17. Well, I wasn’t expecting that. I’d initially intended to start this review comparing ‘Once, Upon Time’to the deliberately ambiguous ‘Listen’, the Peter Capaldi serial that left whether the ‘monster’ even existed up to the audience. Then I thought, no, it’s actually more like ‘Can You Hear Me?’, co-written by Chris Chibnall and featuring the same kind of nightmare-slash-memory scenarios for the companions, underscored by a pair of creepy immortal villains....

He also said that he’d be seeing the Doctor again. “Maybe not soon, but when she needs me. I’ll be there.” He wasn’t lying. The BBC has confirmed that Jack will be making good on his promise with a guest role in this year’s festive special ‘Revolution of the Daleks’. He’s on the poster and everything. According to the BBC: “Captain Jack will be on hand to help ‘the fam’ as they discover a disturbing plan forming involving one of the Doctor’s most feared and dangerous enemies, the Daleks....

In the search for the new Doctor then, it makes sense to rifle through those actors the show already picked once to see who might be asked back. Continuity can be handled if need be – just do what Russell T. Davies did and make up something about spacial genetic multiplicity, or what Steven Moffat did and pretend it was all part of the Doctor’s plan to remind him to be a good man....

The wonderful thing about ranking articles is that they’re a safe space where everyone feels confident and happy in sharing their favourites without fear of unexamined bilious ejaculations, in the understanding that everyone’s tastes are different, and it’s only Doctor Who for God’s sake. It’s not like someone dies if we don’t like ‘Inferno’. Similarly, fandom responded to Russell T. Davies’ innovations and expansions to Doctor Who with calm and measured articulations of their likes and dislikes, and no shrill hyperbole written in blinkered rage and 2am on Outpost Gallifrey....

Doom Patrol Episode 6 In a creepy as hell episode that evokes The Shining (and then calls it out), this week Doom Patrol visits a superhero haunted house of sorts to examine the disturbing fallout of fighting of evil. But while “Doom Patrol Patrol” reveals Niles Caulder is not so great at managing his past, we also see Rita (and Larry, to some extent), coming to terms with their past, and choose to move beyond it....

While many of these game design innovations are attributed to Final Fantasy, which was released in North America first, the Japanese release of Dragon Quest actually beat Final Fantasy by a full year at a time when Square and Enix were still separate companies. In fact, Final Fantasy probably wouldn’t exist if not for the massive success of Dragon Quest. Since then, the series has seen plenty of ups and downs....

In the closing moments of Endeavour’s seventh season, Morse lost the woman he loved. Violetta (Stephanie Leonidas) died in his arms after sacrificing her life by jumping in front of the bullet her husband Ludo meant for Morse. If it weren’t for Fred Thursday, Morse might well have followed her. Fearing his bagman was in danger, Fred had left his and Win’s Christmas celebrations and rushed to Venice, where he saved Morse’s life by shooting the villainous Ludo, who fell – apparently dead – into a canal....

The FX series Fargo begins every episode of every season with a disclaimer that the stories are true but the names are changed. This gives the show a lot of leeway in picking its stories and how to present them. Fargo season 4 is set in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1950. Two mobs in one small city make a truce, which appears to be traditional in that part of town....
