Eternals is now streaming on Disney+, and many people who missed seeing it on the big screen are finally getting a chance to check out what they might have heard is a rare misstep from Marvel Studios in the comfort of their own home. Meanwhile, others are wondering if Eternals is worth revisiting at all after struggling with it the first time. I fall into a different category. I found Eternals pretty enjoyable and a welcome departure from your standard MCU installment, but was looking forward to seeing it again because I had a feeling that some of the film’s problems might be reduced after I’d had time to sit with its secrets, and I did indeed find that to be the case....
To be fair, few fans were probably that surprised by this particular narrative. The Klingons are essentially Discovery’s white whale, the one part of the show’s universe that it can never quite get right and whose appeal it can never capture, no matter how it tries or what twists it pulls. Virtually every subplot involving Klingon characters has been nothing short of a disaster, whether we’re either talking about the galaxy’s dullest war story or that time Michael Burnham ended up falling in love with a Klingon sleeper agent essentially wearing a human suit....

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been a box office hit for Marvel, earning many millions beyond its predicted haul when it was officially released last week. Disney had previously drawn fire – and a very public lawsuit – back in July when it debuted Marvel’s last pandemic-delayed film, Black Widow, in theatres and on the Disney+ streaming service at the same time, but Shang-Chi has targeted a theatrical-only release that seems to have paid off....
In fact, it’s entirely possible to leave Shadowlands‘ new player starting area (an island called Exile’s Reach) without understanding or even knowing about some of the game’s core mechanics. It would have been impossible for Exile’s Reach to teach you absolutely everything you needed to know about the modern WoW experience, but it would have been nice if the new (mostly) universal starting area offered a better taste of the full game....

Young Justice Season 3 Episode 11 Everyone’s going to be talking about Cyborg’s arrival in the Young Justice: Outsiders universe after “Another Freak.” And that’s a huge deal. He’s a great character and I’m impressed with how much they did with him in such a short period of time. Altered Carbon Episode 1 It must have been a daunting task bringing Altered Carbon to the small screen. Explaining the complex process of putting Takeshi Kovacs into a new body 250 years after his death so that he could solve the alleged murder of the still-living man who brought him back could easily have become heavily expository and confusing, but this premiere episode brings its cyberpunk premise into sharp focus while offering up killer action sequences and a beautiful futuristic backdrop....
But a film that focuses on beating its themes to death is rarely entertaining, and such is the case with Antebellum, an aimless movie with no purpose other than shock value. What’s the purpose of displaying such overt brutality without reprieve? Does the film need to revel in disturbing imagery to tell us something we already know? Hollywood can produce films that speak to race relations in America without all the violence, but here we are....

Years of backstory and relationships continue to mature in ways that are both extremely satisfying on a personal level for the characters, but also when it comes to the series’ larger themes. “Thaw” is a goldmine for these narrative payoffs and many characters experience crises of faith and pivotal emotional growth just as Eren and countless others have undergone gruesome physical transformations....
