It’s hardly a surprise that Microsoft’s stunning acquisition of Activision Blizzard (a deal once considered to be a pipe dream or a fascinating hypothetical talking point) has everyone talking at the moment, but the quantity and quality of the internet’s reactions to this news really do tell the tale. First off, you may be wondering who knew about this deal and whether or not this information will come as a shock to Activision Blizzard’s own employees (many of whom were likely sleeping when this news broke due to the time differences)....

Their mother is institutionalized, which is fairly true to the comics, but their father is also referred to as “a powerful serial killer.” In the comics, things are a bit grander. Their father isn’t just any serial killer, but a variation of Satan. Marvel has a bunch of guys whose identities are “basically Satan, but not really....

It may seem like an odd choice as a second film for Theodore Melfi, who directed the Bill Murray comedy St. Vincent a few years back, but he ably finds a way into the stories of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae), whom we meet as their car is broken down at the side of the road on their way to work at Langley in Virginia....

This is such a weird story. Beautifully so. It’s not surprising that the first attempt to put it on screen in 2007 struggled to capture its peculiar magic, nor that it would justify all the blood, sweat and tears involved in a second go. Witches and parallel worlds and quasi-fascist baddies we’ve seen before in fantasy, but quantum computing, dark matter and an ex-nun physicist alongside them? This is a singular tale that – as fans of Pullman’s books know – is only about to get stranger....

Cindy Moon is a relatively new character in Marvel comics, debuting in Issue #1 of the 2014 run of The Amazing Spider-Man. After nine episodes, the CBS All Access limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand has come to an end with a final segment written by none other than King himself.
