Star Trek Discovery wraps up its third season with a finale that’s equal parts action and empathy, and though the mix of the two doesn’t quite work as well as some viewers might like, the end result is fairly solid. Despite an occasional overreliance on fight sequences, “That Hope is You, Part 2” ultimately affirms the central messages of this season – that connection matters, the ways we care about people are important, that empathy is its own kind of superpower, both for ourselves and others....

Although Strange New Worlds doesn’t require a casual viewer to know anything about Star Trek, it certainly doesn’t hurt. Especially with the latest episode, the utterly hilarious episode, “Spock Amok.” Right away, even in the title, the episode is referencing the famous Original Series banger, “Amok Time.” You don’t need to have seen “Amok Time” to dig this episode, and frankly, the references to that classic episode are just the tip of the Vulcan Lirpa....

Star Wars: Andor opens up a whole new corner of the galaxy far, far away, one where workers clock in to their jobs at the scrapyard and corporate bureaucracy rules entire sectors of space. It’s here where Cassian is poised to introduce a bit of chaos, as he goes from common crook to the Rebel secret agent we’ve already met in Rogue One. While the first three episodes of the show focus on who Cassian was before there even was a Rebel Alliance to join, they also introduce plenty of other characters, planets, and factions who play a role in the Galactic Civil War to come....

Obi-Wan Kenobi has reached its final act. One climactic duel and a few farewells later, all paths are now pointed directly at the Original Trilogy. As we watch Obi-Wan riding off into the desert beyond Beggar’s Canyon, the Disney+ series has done what it set out to do, bridging the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The Jedi Master has made peace with the past; meanwhile, Luke and Leia are safe....

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 10 This week’s Disney+ blurb offers a promising subject for an episode that mostly lives up to it: “The Bad Batch has their ideology challenged.” The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch‘s spiritual predecessor, often tried to explore a key element of the Prequel era: there were heroes on both sides of the war. Whether or not that show succeeded isn’t the subject of this review, but The Bad Batch does effectively argue for why the citizens of the Separatist systems are more than their Sidious-adjacent mustache-twirling leaders....

“Return of the Mandalorian” delivers exactly what it says it will. Din Djarin is back, and while he’s fated to help Boba and Fennec, he first addresses many loose threads from The Mandalorian. From reuniting with his clan to getting a new ship, Din is on the metaphorical road in a big way in his crossover appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. Here are all the Star Wars references and easter eggs we spotted in the episode…...

“The Child” continues the Mandalorian’s adventure on Arvala-7 after the first episode’s stunning cliffhanger. Retrieving “the asset” isn’t as easy as shooting down a few thugs and taking a long walk through the desert, though. Nothing is ever that easy in Star Wars. Instead, Mando has to deal with a few…unforeseen obstacles on his return journey. Along the way, we’re treated to a few easter eggs and references to the larger Star Wars universe that you don’t want to miss!...

Set 200 years before The Phantom Menace, the novel stars an ensemble cast of new Star Wars characters. Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh, tinkerer and senator’s daughter Avon Starros, Jedi apprentice Imri Cantaros, and ambassador’s son Honesty Weft are passengers on a luxury starship headed for the Starlight Beacon. If the trip goes well, it could ease negotiations between the Republic and the Dalnan ambassadors, who hail from a planet which has been reluctant to join the spreading galactic government....
