Of course, in reality it is going to be months before we learn anything about Ncuti (pronounced ‘shooty’) Gatwa’s incarnation of the Timeless Child, the Oncoming Storm, Theta Sigma, John Smith, the one, the only, Doctor Who (‘World Enough and Time’ made that name canon, dying on this hill)....

Fans have been using what’s available for decades to create recreations of the lost episodes and, more recently, BBC Studios itself has gotten in on the effort, recreating missing episodes using animated storytelling. This should be common knowledge, but for whatever reason, this week’s Doctor Who chooses to ignore the events of totally-factual movie The Prestige and instead depicts Tesla as a struggling inventor in period America whose ambition and intellect far exceed his bank balance. Yes, Nikola Tesla’s Night Of Terror is the first proper historical episode this year and sees the Doctor fangirling over an encounter with a famous face from the past – a format that’s as familiar to veteran viewers as last week’s ‘base-under-siege’ adventure was....

It’s a very Doctor Who-y name for a villain, ‘Flux’. It describes the show itself both over the years and at this precise moment, with one showrunner outgoing and none other than Russell T. Davies incoming, bringing a new Doctor with him. The word describes the Doctor themself, their many incarnations and ever-changing personal history. It also conjures up time-travel, thanks to Doc Emmett Brown’s flux capacitator and its various science-related mentions across the Star Trek franchise....

However, don’t let the briefness of that moment belie her prospective importance to the MCU. The character, otherwise known as Maya Lopez, is prominent in the pages of Marvel Comics, standing distinctly as one of only a handful of deaf heroes in the medium, and, eventually, as a key member of the New Avengers....

Elden Ring leakers have recently uploaded a series of clips that largely focus on the game’s magical attacks and abilities. Well, this fascinating video appears to verify that Elden Ring players will eventually be able to wield the famous Moonlight Sword: a weapon that has appeared in some way in most of FromSoftware’s games since King’s Field. That’s one takeaway from the rousing theatrical debut of Godzilla vs. Kong, which despite being simultaneously available to watch in theaters and on HBO Max was able to rally an impressive $48.5 million at the U.S. box office during a pandemic. Annie thinks there’s around 30k in the safe which would be enough to bail each of them out. But when they count the cash it’s closer to half a million. Turns out that money belongs to shady gangster Rio (Manny Montana) – Annie’s dodgy boss Boomer (David Hornsby) had been turning a blind eye to money laundering via the store....

1.5 The Doomsday Option The problem with having a great fizzing mass of on-screen chemistry in the middle of your TV show is that people notice when it’s not there. The absence makes the lights dim, as if power-saving mode has been enabled. Whatever else is dangled in front of an audience’s face is waved irritably away. They’re looking past it, waiting for the moment a 1926 black Bentley driven by a screaming David Tennant careens over the horizon, in flames....

The Mountain Dew Zero Sugar commercial (seen below), chock-full of franchise-evocative Easter eggs, shows movie protagonist Billy Peltzer (Galligan) hyping the soda before unwisely giving Gizmo a gulp (as if he didn’t know any better), leading to an all-too-familiar population outbreak. Billy’s daughter (along with a mohawked Mogwai resting on her shoulder,) reacts with an exasperated sigh. While the clip is hardly canon, Galligan explained to EW how the puppets-teeming commercial might become the template for finally getting Gremlins 3 off the ground....
