Evil season 3 exchanges the Pop-Up Book of Terrifying Things MMXXI for The Pop-Up Book of Contemporary Demons but continues the same old story. Newly ordained Father David Acosta (Mike Colter) and his skeptical colleagues, Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), and Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi), weigh proof against belief to measure miraculous delusions. Season 3 picks up in the aftermath of the season 2 finale, when Kristen confessed to David that she murdered Orson LeRoux (Darren Pettie), the serial killer who was threatening her family, and got away with it....

The reasoning was that Marvel – even after laying out all of Phase 5 and parts of Phase 6 in Hall H – was going to spring even more mind-melting announcements on the fans at D23 (cue the “Henry Cavill for Doctor Doom” tweets). There is a lot to say about this situation, but Rockstar mentions one of the most important things we should all keep in mind. These leaks may be legitimate, but they represent early footage of an in-development version of GTA 6. Not only does that mean that it’s impossible to properly judge the final game at this time, but many of the things we “know” about the game today could change tomorrow....

So now, with the second part of his Halloween trilogy on the way, any hint of skepticism has been replaced with pure excitement. Green reckons the renewed interest in the genre is a sign of the times. “I feel like there’s always these waves, culturally, right?” he says, speaking to Den of Geek almost two years since Halloween Kills began filming. “One of the things I’ve talked to fans of Halloween about a lot is the ways that this [franchise] moves from some of the traditional movie monsters that are a little bit more supernatural–your vampires and your werewolves–to things that are more immediately relatable and realistic within the world that we live in....

Not content to let Netflix’s Stranger Things or Prime Video’s The Boys to dominate the summer TV landscape, HBO is coming through with a new season of one of its big hits. Westworld season 4 is set to premiere June 26 on both HBO and HBO Max. What will this season of the increasingly confusing sci-fi drama be about? Per HBO’s synopsis it will be “A dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on earth....

The upcoming expansion will also feature the usual number of new cards (135). Among the new cards are the return of the “Old Gods” Legendaries (C’thun, N’Zoth, Yogg-Saron, and Y’Shaarj) who each produce some potentially game-changing effects when played. There’s also a new keyword called “Corrupt” which basically allows you to upgrade a corrupted card by playing a card that costs more than it does. Interestingly, Blizzard has announced that they will supplement that set by releasing 35 card mini-expansions between the release of Darkmoon Faire and the debut of Hearthstone‘s next full set sometime in 2021....

The high point of Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles 2 comes at its least festive moment. The young and grieving teen Kate Pierce (Darby Camp) is mistaken for a runaway and taken away by airport authorities–while being lost in time–all the flights on Logan International Airport’s big board turn from hour-long delays to outright cancellations, and joy in that small part of Boston drops to 7 percent. People are all up in each other’s grills, nerves are frayed, and complimentary hotel stays are not going to cut it....

The situation was especially rough for horror movie fans. I owned the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th adaptations for the NES and at least tried to finish them. It’s not that I thought they were good, but at a time when licensed horror games (not to mention major console horror games) were few and far between, the opportunity to face off against my favorite movie slasher was too enticing to ignore....

Grantchester is commonly described by critics and viewers as a “cozy mystery”. This label, especially in regards to its seventh season currently airing in the US on PBS, is misleading. Although so far the season’s emphasis on found family is heart-warming, there are also a number of serious social and political issues underneath the unraveling of its various mysteries. The crime-solving vicar/priest/nun is a common cozy mystery archetype. In 1950s-set Grantchester, originally based on a series of books by James Runcie, that character started out as Sidney Chambers (James Norton), a vicar with an unusual side hobby and a good friend in police inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green)....

In fact, Pikachu’s status as one of gaming’s greatest mascots has embedded itself so deeply into our collective pop-culture consciousness over the years that many of us probably never stopped and thought how odd it is that Pikachu earned that status in the first place.
